Northport Police Blotter: Woman & Landlord Involved In Argument
She says her landlord moved her garbage so that it wouldn't get picked up, and she was told her appliances needed to be removed, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from March 15 through March 21.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A woman on March 15 reported she received a New York state unemployment benefit claim in the mail even though she didn't apply for one. She said she did not suffer any financial loss and hadn't been advised of any unauthorized charges.
- A woman on March 15 told police her employer received a state unemployment benefit claim in the mail even though she didn't apply for one. She said she did not suffer any financial loss and hadn't been advised of any unauthorized charges. She told the IRS that she put a hold on her credit.
- A chimney fire was doused at Crescent Drive by Northport Fire Department.
- A landlord and tenant on Earl Avenue got into an argument over rent on March 16. Both of them agreed to use email to communicate about rent and other issues in the future.
- A woman on March 16 reported she received a New York state unemployment benefit claim even though she didn't apply for one. She said she did not suffer any financial loss and hadn't been advised of any unauthorized charges.
- A woman was standing on the side of Bluff Point Road at 1:32 a.m. March 17. She told police she didn't know where she was. Police brought her home after they contacted her husband.
- A dog got off its leash on Maple Avenue on March 12. She said the large dog ran up to her aggressively and scared her dog. She was told to call police if she saw the dog loose again. The incident was reported March 17.
- A woman went to police headquarters on March 17 to report an argument with her landlord on Earl Avenue. She said that sometime after she placed her trash out for pick up, her landlord brought the trash back in so it would not get picked up. The woman told police she is moving out in two weeks. Roughly an hour later, the woman said she received a letter from the landlord where she was told the stove, sink and refrigerator needed to be removed.
- A sick and injured raccoon was euthanized by police and disposed of at Reservoir Avenue on March 18.
- A man said he found multiple syringes that had been used for narcotics and turned them in to police headquarters on March 18. Police disposed of the syringes.
- Police responded to Earl Avenue on March 19 for a report of a tenant whose water was turned off in her apartment. The woman said she was having an ongoing argument with her landlord about moving out, and she believes the landlord intentionally turned the water off. The landlord's significant other was contacted, and the water was turned back on.
- Youths who were recklessly riding their bicycles in Village Park were warned and admonished by police on March 20. The kids left the park after.
- A woman on March 20 reported she received a New York state unemployment insurance debit card she didn't apply for. She did not suffer any financial loss at the time of the report.
- A woman on March 20 reported she keeps getting mail from the New York State Department of Labor regarding unemployment benefits. She hasn't suffered any financial loss and believes she was getting the mail by mistake. Police informed her of the scam and told her to throw out any mail that comes in.
