Northport Police Log: DUI Arrest, Sick Raccoon Reported
Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.

Monday, March 11
At 9:27 a.m., police responded to a location on Hilton Avenue for the report of a sick raccoon. Upon arrival, the raccoon ran into the woods.
At 9:41 a.m., police responded to Highland Ave or a report of a male that had knock on the door claiming to be there for a construction job. Upon arrival the resident said the male stated he was suppose to be there to do a construction job. Apparently the subject was at the wrong address. The complaint was advised to call if the subject returned.

At 5:17 p.m., police responded to Washington Place to assist a female off the floor. Upon arrival a neighbor had already assisted the subject off the floor and into a chair. No further action requested.
Tuesday, March 12

At 6:35, a subject reported a road rage incident. Complainant reports that when he was pulling out of his driveway a white Nissan nearly struck him then sped off. The complainant later saw the same vehicle stopped at a traffic light and asked the driver to slow down. The driver proceeded to curse at him then speed off. Complainant wished to make a report of informational purposes at this time.
At 6:43 p.m., police responded to Ocean Avenue for a a report of a male possibly hitchhiking. The undersigned canvassed the area with negative results. No further police action taken.
Wednesday, March 13
At 2:18 a.m., police responded to Lady Janes Way for a male unconscious. The undersigned administered oxygen and first aid. Northport Rescue responded and transported the aided to Huntington Hospital.
Thursday, March 14
At 8:32 a.m., police responded to Chestnut Circle for a female sick. Northport Fire Department responded and transported the aided to Huntington Hospital.
At 12:56 p.m., police responded to Woodbine Avenue for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival the business owner stated the listed subjects have eaten in Benkei Restaurant numerous times and when the check is given to them after the meal, they say the food isn't to their liking and want the fee removed from the bill. On this date the business owner refused to serve them when they called in an order on the phone. Subsequently, the subjects called back numerous times (spam calling) and this disturbed the business owner. Trespass affidavits were prepared for both subjects and the undersigned responded to their house to advise them that their privilege to enter Benkei Restaurant has been revoked. Both subjects were made aware of the fact that they are subject to arrest if they enter the property again. Both subjects were also advised to cease spam calling the restaurant as this is also a violation of law. Both trespass affidavits are posted on the board in the squad room, attached hereto and expire on 3/13/20.
At 4:15 p.m., police responded to Oak Street to take a report for information. Upon arrival the person reporting stated she received an email advising her that Home Depot is sending out a cordless drill and the amount charged is $543.29. The person reporting states she contacted Home Depot and stopped the order. Person reporting states Home Depot wouldn't tell her if the charge was made with one of her credit cards. Person reporting states she checked her credit cards and no charge by Home Depot for $543.29 was on them. Person reporting suffered no monetary loss. Person reporting satisfied filing this report for informational purposes.
Friday, March 15
Police arrested Christopher Wilkins(photo above) at 12:46 a.m. for driving while impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
At 10:23 a.m., police responded to Doris Avenue for a reported missing male with dementia. While canvassing for subject, the caller contacted this agency to report he returned home. No further action necessary.
At 2:50 p.m., police responded to Ocean Avenue for a reported harassment. Interviewed caller who stated she was having an argument with subject which got heated. Caller is concerned that the subject might come to the house. Undersigned advised the caller to block the phone number. Undersigned also contacted the subject and advised him to cease communication with the caller. He agreed. Caller and parents were advised to contact this agency if she notices anything or anyone suspicious around the residence.
Saturday, March 16
At 12:31 a.m., police responded to Hilton Avenue to assist the female resident with retrieving her walker which had fallen out of her reach. Undersigned picked the walker up and placed it beside the female. No further action necessary.
At 1:36 p.m., police responded to Waterside Avenue for a reported construction vehicles blocking the road. Undersigned observed a landscaping truck parked along the shoulder doing work. The road was still passable.
At 5:08 p.m., police responded to Constitution Square for the report of male possibly asleep at the wheel. Upon arrival undersigned interviewed the above subject who was parked legally and using his phone.
At 9:06 p.m., police responded to Feed & Grain Restaurant or a dispute between a new owner and the former manager. Upon arrival the listed owner stated she had an argument with the former manager of the restaurant and wished for her to leave. The former manager was compliant and agreed to leave.
At 10 p.m., police responded to Waterside Avenue to the listed location for a 911 hang up call. Upon arrival it was determined the listed caller had let her child play with her cell phone and the child dialed 911 by accident. No further police action necessary.
Sunday, March 17
At 1:06 a.m., police responded to Little Neck Road for a report of a male possible intoxicated trying to drive his vehicle. Undersigned remained on scene until sufficient SCPD units arrives. No further action necessary.
At 1:49 a.m., police responded to Main Street for a report of smoke coming from the building. Upon arrival the listed resident stated he had just returned to his apartment from being out all night and heard his smoke alarm going off. When he entered his apartment there was a small fire coming from a battery charger that he had left plugged into an outlet. The resident extinguished the fire prior to our arrival. Northport Fire Department responded along with Fire Marshal Brojer who determined the fire had started from the battery charger.
