Northport Ranked No. 78 Safest Place in New York
Several communities on Long Island were included in the recently released rankings.

Northport residents don’t need to sleep with one eye open at night, at least according to recently released rankings.
The home security website Alarm System Reviews recently released the 30 Safest Places in New York rankings. Northport Village was ranked the No. 78 safest place in New York.
To determine the safety rankings, the website used data from several national sources to find the number of violent and property crimes in communities with at least 2,500 residents. The website then used the total number of crimes and the reported population to assign an overall crime rate per 1,000 residents.

The rankings say Malverne is the safest place on Long Island and the fifth safest place in New York.
Compared to Waterbury, Vt., however, Long Island residents are living life on the edge. Vermont was ranked the No. 1 safest state in America and Waterbury is its safest town, according to Alarm System Reviews. New York was ranked the No. 16 safest state in America.

The rankings say the safest place in New York is Stockport, a town located south of Albany.
