Northport Rotary Donates Over 8,000 Books To Hindi's Libraries

NORTHPORT, NY — The Northport Rotary again joined forces with Hindi's Libraries, an international nonprofit based on Long Island that has the goal of donating new and gently used children's books all over the world. It marked the second year the rotary worked with the nonprofit.

The rotary's mission includes supporting education and promoting literacy. It collected more than 8,000 children's books which it donated to Hindi's Libraries. Over the weekend, Judy Farabaugh, a representative from the Northport Rotary, delivered more than 100 boxes of books to the home of Hindi's Libraries co-founder Leslie Gang.

In addition to the book donations, Hindi's Libraries received a contribution of $1,000 from the Northport Rotary to assist with shipping costs.

Hindi's Libraries is a 501c3 international nonprofit that donates new and gently used children's books spanning 50 states, Israel, India, Puerto Rico, and Africa. Books are sent to recipients, free of charge, as the nonprofit absorbs all shipping costs. Since the nonprofit's 2018 inception, it has collected more than 100,000 books and partnered with 385 organizations across the globe.

All books are dedicated in memory of Dr. Hindi Krinsky, a 32-year-old educator and mother of five who suddenly died in August 2018 due to complications from Crohn's disease.
