Northport Student Athletes Celebrate Dominating Seasons

The sporting future of Northport is bright.

NORTHPORT, NY — Northport High School athletes have a lot to celebrate this month and can flaunt some new titles to boot.

On Nov. 8, the boys’ cross-country team defeated Smithtown and Eastport-South Manor to win the Suffolk County Class “A” Championship. Congratulations to coaches Jason Strom and William Miller and students, Thomas Fodor, Dillon Heinzman, Aidar Matthews, Wyeth Semo, Thomas Serra, Tim Sheahan and Cristian Zabala. The team will travel to Plattsburgh this weekend to compete in the New York State Championships.

The school’s girls swimming and diving team also recently earned ultimate bragging rights and placed third at the County Championships. Northport student athletes won two of three relays, including the 200-yard Medley Relay and the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. Congratulations to Coach Drew Modrov and students, Caitlyn Riordan, Makenna O'Brien, Chloe Stepanek, Danielle Levanti and Lia Edlin Miller.
