NORTHPORT, NY — The Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Tuesday received a batch of donations from the Town of North Hempstead. The town recently held its seventh Veterans Donation Drive, courtesy of Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the town’s Veterans Advisory Committee.

"We are proud to continue the tradition of our annual Veterans Donation Drive," Bosworth said via news release. "The Town's Veterans Advisory Committee and our residents come together each year to collect donations for the Northport VA Medical Center. I would like to thank everyone for their generosity and support of our veterans who have sacrificed so much for our great country."

Donations included cases of brand-new toiletries — with help from the Red Cross of Mineola —, blankets, and more than $3,000 in gift cards for supermarkets and pharmacies. The goods were dropped off by North Hempstead representative Tom Devaney.
