Lacrosse Star From Northport Dies In Colorado Crash
Julia Sarcona, a Northport High School graduate, was a three-year letter winner for the University of Colorado women's lacrosse team.

A 21-year-old lacrosse star from Northport died after her car struck a tree in Boulder, Colorado last Saturday, according to reports.
Julia Sarcona, a senior student-athlete for the University of Colorado women's lacrosse team, was driving on Colorado Highway 119, when her car left the road and struck a tree on Jan. 13, the university reports. She was a three-year letter winner for the Buffaloes and would have graduated in the spring with a degree in public relations, the university said.
A vigil in Northport was held last Monday night in memory of Sarcona, a Northport High School graduate, News12 reports.

"Julia had an incredible heart, she was funny and caring, she could always make you laugh and smile, she was an integral part of this program and has impacted each of our lives in so many ways," Buffs women's lacrosse head coach Ann Elliott said on the University of Colorado website. "There really aren't words and there is no answer for how one deals with such a loss. As a team, we will go one step at a time as we try to find our way together and make sure everyone has all the resources and support they need. Again, our love and thoughts go out to Julia's family. Her impact on our program and lives will never be forgotten."
According to the University of Colorado, Sarcona was born on June 30, 1996 in Huntington. She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Alessandra, her brother, Matthew, and sister, Nina.
