Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care vaccinates frontline teams

Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care is among the first urgent care providers in the nation approved to receive and administer the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine. The New York urgent care network has already received its initial allocation and has begun vaccinating team members on the front line.

Frontline Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care personnel who opt-in have already begun to receive vaccinations, in accordance with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and New York State distribution plans and prioritization requirements. This initial phase will cover all clinical personnel, including providers and frontline staff that have direct contact with patients, as well as support function personnel operating in centers.

“Today marks a new day for our healthcare workers who have served on the front lines in fighting COVID-19,” said Dr. Neal Shipley, the Medical Director of Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care. “Getting vaccinated brings the region one step closer to pre-pandemic norms, helping to further protect the healthcare system, the communities we serve, our team and our families.”

Further roll out and availability is being planned in partnership with Northwell Health and in strict compliance with CDC and New York State requirements. “We are very confident in the approved COVID-19 vaccines, with clinical trials showing their high efficacy rate,” said Dr. J.D. Zipkin, the Chief Medical Officer of GoHealth Urgent Care. “This is a moment filled with hope as we begin to turn the tide in the battle against COVID-19, and I am excited to roll up my sleeve for this vaccine.”

Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care has contributed tirelessly to the region’s response to COVID-19 since the pandemic’s initial outbreak.

“With urgent care on the front lines, we have been uniquely positioned to identify COVID-19 patients and quickly get them the care that they need,” said Adam Boll, PA, the executive director of joint venture operations at Northwell Health. “As part of the region’s healthcare system, it is vital that Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care’s frontline workers have access to the vaccine as they continue delivering care in our communities.”

In addition to COVID-19 testing, all Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care family centers treat adults and children six-months and older for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries and Cohen Children’s Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care centers treat babies as young as two weeks through age 26. Patients can be seen for hundreds of common health concerns, including flu, fever, asthma, allergies, minor cuts, burns, pink eye, urinary tract infections, fractures, sprains, strains and more.
