NYS Property Tax Extender for One Special Class vs the others

What is the deal? Read the Postcard.

Huntington Township recently mailed notice that Low Income Seniors receive 2nd Half property Tax reminder notices granting 5 days additional time to pay property taxes. Did you receive one-check it out. Why weren't the other protective classes of Property Tax Owners within Residential (IE the Disabled) included in extender aspects by the Township?

New York State grants All protective classes within Extender Property Tax Change of Date when a decision is made to grant additional time. NYS doesn't exclude others if NYS acknowledges need based reasons to do so. Pandemic Covid EO is the catalyst for the Township of Huntington to have offered the Other Protective Classes the same Extension of Extended time. Huntington is consistently and intentionally stating that One protective class of Property tax payers is more important than all of them. Do you agree Homeowners?

New York State creates Property Tax Exemptions and if a Homeowner is approved for these items; then all of these Property Tax Payers should have received notice of Township Extender timeframes. Universality within Extended Time Frames is required Huntington-and continued advocacy by Huntington to State Legislators that Protective and Primary Class Homeowners need EO Relief-in creation of a Property Tax Payment Program without penalties and interest if the Homeowner is in compliance with Payments of the Program Requirements.

This year-NYS as well has not come forward and provided Primary Property Owners with any Extender Property Tax Payment relief-3 Tax Payments have passed. That too-demands for review and immediate inquiry and implementation of Deferred Payment Programs without Penalty and Interest. This recommendation should flow with extender timeframes provided to NYS enacted to allow Renters not to make rental payments through August 31, 2021. Although many appreciate this 5 day lee-way without penalty and interest assessed-it clearly is not enough for Primary Homeowners who have diligently paid their property taxes during 3 recent Half year payments.

What is one justification for NYS and/or the Township to grant Extender relief at large to Protected Classes of Homeowners-State of Emergency Effective Measures during Healthcare Pandemic-warrants immediate Temporary Relief granting these Protected Classes of Property Owners. Relief is needed for Primary Homeowners who may be listed as Non-Essential Business Owners as well. Mom-Pop businesses are the lifeblood on Long Island and based on that-these Primary Homeowners (if that's their classification) have been hit with Double Whammy-no relief.

As COVID Pandemic State of Emergency is still in effect-and we're now headed to the Upcoming 4th Tax Payment-it's important for NYS to consider introducing Rebate aspects within Property Tax Classifications to those Primary Homeowners who made timely Property Tax Payments. Why-simply put-These Homeowners complied with Township and State Deadlines timely.

Check in with your 2021 State Representatives and find out what is their remedy in managing State of Emergency Matters from a Policy Perspective? Do these Legislators have Pre-Existing Experiences that are of value to their present State Policy Maker Employer Position. Policy Making-that is their Employment Role-we elect them to do so-they're not GODS-they're people and if they are not Listening-then new Leaders are needed to be elected in Statewide Elections 2022 which are driven to make better insightful decisions.
