Obituary: William Forster, 83, Longtime Member Of Northport Fire Department

William F. Forster, of Northport, passed away on Monday, May 1 at age 83.

Forster was a 50-year member of Northport Fire Department, and proud member of the F.D.N.Y.

"Willie was a true friend, mentor and an inspiration to all members young and old of the Northport Fire Department family and he will be deeply missed," the Northport Fire Department wrote on Facebook.

Beloved husband of Regina. Loving father of Regina Richardelli, Mary Rooney (Mark), William S. Forster (Linda). Fond grandfather of Jamie, Shaina, Kylie, Kevin, Haiden and Masen. Caring brother of the late Thomas, the late John, and the late Barbara.

Reposing will be held at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, located at 5 Laurel Ave. in Northport, on Wednesday, May 10 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Northport Fire Department Firematic Services will be held at 8 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Philip Neri Church, located at 344 Main St. in Northport, on Thursday, May 11 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to V.N.S. Hospice of Suffolk, 505 Main Street, Northport NY 11768, in William’s memory would be appreciated.
