Paddle Your Way Through Cow Harbor Paddlefest on Saturday

Kayakers and paddle boarders can navigate their way along the shores of Northport, Ashroken and Eaton's Neck this weekend.

All Long Island paddlers are welcome to paddle their way through the third annual Cow Harbor Paddlefest to support the Northport Fire Department.

The races kick off on Saturday at Steers Beach and are open to both kayakers and stand up paddle boarders.

There are different course options for the competitive and noncompetitive paddlers:

  • 6 mile race— (Green Course) Paddlers will navigate their way through the course in protected waters along the shores of Northport, Ashroken and Eaton’s Neck.
  • 3 mile race— (Red Course) Paddle through protected waters along the shores of Northport and Ashroken.
  • 3 mile poker paddle/ recreational paddle— Poker Paddle allows participants to paddle at their own pace to five designated stops along the course. Paddlers will pick up a chip at each stop. When paddlers finish, they can turn in the chips for their poker hand. Best hand wins a prize.

Awards will be given to the first place finishers in each age category for each class.

  • 7:30-8:30 a.m.— Registration
  • 8:45 a.m.— Mandatory paddler meeting
  • 9:30 a.m.— Staggered start
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.— After party, awards and hang out
