'Stay Off' Frozen Waterways, Suffolk Police Warns
BREAKING: Residents were told to stay off frozen lakes, streams, rivers and ponds due to thin ice.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Suffolk County residents were warned to stay off of frozen waterways by Suffolk police.
The police department took to Twitter on Tuesday to suggest residents avoid walking, skating, sledding and driving on frozen lakes, streams, rivers and ponds due to thin ice.

A 17-year-old Medford resident was hospitalized after he fell through thin ice at Canaan Lake in North Patchogue Sunday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
