Temperatures will be well above normal and there's a chance of thunderstorms on four straight days on Long Island this week.

A heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for Nassau County and western Suffolk County where the heat index – how hot it feels with humidity factored in – is expected to reach up to 100 degrees.

The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure, the National Weather Service says.
