Long Island Weather: Power Outages Possible On Christmas Eve, Day
Santa is in for a rough ride with a strong storm in the forecast.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A high wind watch has been issued for Long Island with "widespread" power outages possible on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the National Weather Service says.
The wind watch will be in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday until 9 a.m. Friday. Wind gusts up to 60 mph may blow down trees and power lines. Travel also could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Rain is expected to begin falling Thursday night and continue into Friday morning. The strongest winds are likely early Friday.

Damaging winds should subside by sunrise on Christmas and the rain will come to end by around noon.
The rest of Friday will be dry and breezy with temperatures falling throughout the day. The high temperature Friday will be near 54 degrees, but that will come around 4 a.m. By 10 p.m. Friday, it will be near the 30-degree mark and come 7 a.m. Saturday, you are going to want to bundle way up with the temperature around 22 degrees.

Tuesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 30. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. West wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Wednesday- Sunny, with a high near 40. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night- Increasing clouds, with a temperature rising to around 46 by 4am. South wind 5 to 8 mph.
Thursday- A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 58. Breezy, with a south wind 13 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
Thursday Night- Rain, mainly after 7 p.m. The rain could be heavy at times. Steady temperature around 54. Windy, with a southeast wind 24 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Christmas Day- Rain, mainly before 9 a.m. Temperature falling to around 38 by 5 p.m. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 22.
Saturday- Sunny, with a high near 33.
Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 24.
Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 39.
