Manhattan was Nyack College's original home, in 1882. The college relocated to Rockland County in 1897. Then it re-established a city campus in 1997.
Committed to finding a permanent home for its growing student population in the city, the college relocated to 2 Washington St. in 2011, leasing 166,000 square feet on eight floors of the modern 21-floor building -- with a purchase option.
"The challenges were great," said Dr. Michael G. Scales, president of Nyack College/Alliance Theological Seminary, in a blog post about the purchase. "In fact, the project became referred to as 'The Miracle in Manhattan.'"
