11th Annual Brooke Jackman Race for Literacy is Saturday

The run/walk will be held at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School in Oyster Bay.

The 11th Annual Brooke Jackman Race for Literacy is set to take off Saturday in Oyster Bay.

The race is a 5k and participants are invited to either run or walk.

The race kicks off at 9:30 a.m. at Brooke Jackman Reading Garden at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School, located at 50 W Main St.

A quarter mile fun run will also be held for kids ages 8 and younger. The fun run starts 9 a.m. The fun run activities, such as face painting, tattoos, yoga, hula hoops and more, are set to begin at 8:45 a.m.

The Brooke Jackman Foundation looks to honor Brooke and the legacy she left behind to help the literacy and self-esteem of children.
