50 MPH Winds, Thunderstorms Possible Overnight For Long Island
The powerful winds could blow around unsecured objects and knock off tree limbs.

LONG ISLAND, NY — If you are putting garbage cans out to the curb tonight, you may find them in the middle of the road Monday morning.
Wind gusts are expected to hit 50 mph overnight and a wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday.
Thunderstorms are possible until around midnight. Some parts of the island are currently getting hit with heavy downpours and powerful winds.

The winds could blow around unsecured objects and knock off tree limbs, causing power outages, the National Weather Service says.
Strong gusty winds will continue for much of the day Monday under mostly sunny skies and a high near 53 degrees.
