Cops: Syosset Teens Robbed, Harassed 14-Year-Old Girl

The pair robbed a girl Friday afternoon in Carle Place, police said.

Two teenagers from Syosset face charges for robbing a 14-year-old girl in front of a Carle Place store Friday afternoon, according to Nassau County Police.

At 1:18 p.m., the victim was sitting on the steps in front of Carle Place Farm, located at 514 Westbury Ave., when she was approached by Mario Mayancela, 16, and Gregorio Garcia, 16, cops said.

After harassing the victim and asking to use her cellphone, the two grabbed her purse, pulled her to the ground, and dragged her several feet across the sidewalk, authorities said. The two fled the scene with her purse after the strap snapped, cops said.

The victim was treated by a Nassau County AMT for scrapes and bruising to her upper back, police said.

A witness chased after the teens before calling the police, who located the two at Broadmoor Lane and Bert Avenue, police said. They had the victim’s bag and cash in their possession, cops said.

Mayancela and Garcia were charged with two counts of second-degree robbery. They were arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
