East Woods Students And Staff Volunteer At Soup Kitchen
The Oyster Bay private school volunteered at the Project H.O.P.E. Kitchen at St. Hugh of Lincoln in Huntington Station.
OYSTER BAY, NY--Students, faculty and families from East Woods School recently volunteered at the Project H.O.P.E. Kitchen at St. Hugh of Lincoln in Huntington Station over a weekend.
Students spent Saturday at the soup kitchen preparing ingredients. The following day, they served meals to families and individuals in the Huntington area. Prior to serving the meals, students set up the tables. Following the event, where they interacted with the guests, they remained to clean up.
East Woods School is a private school in Oyster Bay Cove that features students ranging from pre-school through middle school. Students have visited the Project H.O.P.E Soup Kitchen on numerous occasions this school year as they learn the importance of community service and giving back.

“We are constantly encouraging our students to help the less fortunate,” Head of School Laura Kang said in a press release. “Not only does it make them better well-rounded students, but better future members of society as well.”
Project H.O.P.E. is an organization formed by the youth of St. Hugh of Lincoln Parish to aid the hungry, homeless and unemployed in Huntington and the surrounding area. The operation consists of a mobile soup kitchen, food drives, clothing collections and meals served on a bi-monthly basis.
