Health Officials Warn Against Bathing At 2 North Shore Beaches
Heavy rains may have caused stormwater runoff and led to elevated bacterial levels, officials say.
BAYVILLE, NY — Nassau County health officials on Tuesday warned against bathing at two North Shore beaches due to possible elevated levels of bacteria.
The county's health department issued a precautionary advisory against bathing at Centre Island Sound and Soundside beaches in Bayville. Heavy rainfall could lead to stormwater runoff, whcih can affect bathing water quality.
The advisory will remain in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday unless more rains fall or water samples show elevated bacterial levels.

Residents can call a health department representative weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at 516- 227-9717.
