John Corso, St. Dominic Athletic Director, Dies At 58

John Corso, dedicated to sharing the joy and lessons of sports, died after a long battle with cancer.

John Corso passed on January 26, 2019 at the age of 58 after a long battle with cancer. John was devoted to his family, a loving son to Mary, who is 90, and the late Andrew, and dear brother to the late William (Adrienne). John was the proud uncle of Andrew, currently earning his doctorate, and Jack, studying at Princeton University. He is also survived by his cousins Jackie McCafferty and Debbie Antoniadis, and many, many loving friends.

John was dedicated to sharing the joy and lessons of sports. He began his playing career at Holy Trinity High School and went on to play Division I Basketball at the University of Florida and Davidson College. He had a diverse career in sports as a coach, administrator, and official: a Coach at Davidson College, the Director of Basketball Operations at Hofstra University, a Division I Basketball official, and the Athletic Director of St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay.

Family will receive friends at the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, 293 South Street Oyster Bay Tuesday 3-9 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 30 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic R.C. Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Dominic John Corso Memorial Scholarship. Checks should be made payable to St. Dominic High School with the John Corso Scholarship indicated on the check.
