Last year's race raised $160,000 for such veteran services as counseling, provision of veterans service dogs, housing, jobs, etc.

The race is scheduled for 8 a.m., starting and finishing in downtown Patchogue. The race is followed by the Taste of Long Island festival, which highlights food, wine and beer produced on Long Island. Entertainment, such as local bands, Halloween-related activities and other events are also planned.
