Long Island’s Best Public High Schools: New Rankings Released

Twenty-nine Long Island schools made Niche.com's 100 best public high schools in New York.

Niche.com has released its list of the best public high schools in the nation and New York for 2019.

The top school in the country: Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, Illinois. In New York: Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan.

Twenty-nine Long Island high schools made the top 100 list for New York, with four making an appearance in the top 10. Last year, 30 Long Island schools were in the top 100, but only two made the top 10.

To arrive at these rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

  2. Staten Island Technical High School
  3. Bronx High School of Science
  4. Townsend Harris High School
  5. Great Neck South High School
  6. Jericho Senior High School
  7. Scarsdale Senior High School
  8. High School Math Science & Engineering at The City College of New York (CCNY)
  9. Syosset Senior High School
  10. Roslyn High School
