The Homicide Squad is investigating an apartment fire that occurred in Bethpage on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 2:20 AM.

According to Detectives, Eighth Precinct Officers responded to a Nicole Court apartment building for a call for the smell of smoke. Upon arrival it was determined that there was a fire in one of the apartments. The Hicksville Fire Department forced entry into the apartment and found a 79-year-old female unconscious on the floor. The aided was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased by a physician. All remaining occupants of the building were evacuated safely with no injuries reported. The Nassau County Police Arson Bomb Squad responded along with the Nassau County Fire Marshall. The investigation is ongoing.
