Nassau to Get New Assisted Living Facility With Focus on Dementia Patients
The project will create hundreds new of full-time jobs, Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano says.
A $125 million assisted living facility that will have a special focus on dementia patients was recently approved to be built in Jericho.
The Nassau County Industrial Agency approved an economic development compact for HSRE-EB Jericho LLC, which looks to build a 336,000 square-foot, 280-unit facility on vacant land at 300-310 Jericho Turnpike.
About 140 of the units will be traditional assisted-living apartments and the rest will be designed for residents suffering from the onset of dementia and other memory loss conditions.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced the new plans for the facility on Thursday, March 2. “This project will help to meet the growing needs of a segment of the population who are no longer able to live alone while enhancing their quality of life,” he said in a press release.
The Bristal plans to hire about 90 full-time-equivalent employees within three years of the facility’s completion. The construction period will create about 150 full-time-equivalent jobs for an 18-month period.

Mangano says the project to build this facility will have a positive tax benefit. It is expected to have a $337 million economic impact on Nassau County and $22 million on other taxing jurisdictions.
HSRE-EB, a partnership of Garden City-based Engel Burman Group and Harrison Street Real Estate Capital LLC, also plans to gift 8.5 acres of undeveloped land at the 10-acre site to the Town of Oyster Bay to be preserved forever.
