Police Rescue Seemingly Intoxicated Boater On Long Island Sound
Police said the boater appeared to be intoxicated and was slipping in and out of consciousness on the Long Island Sound.
LLOYD HARBOR, NY — A seemingly intoxicated boater who was slipping in and out of consciousness on the Long Island Sound was pulled ashore by police and taken to a hospital.
The water rescue happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday near Oyster Bay, Nassau County police said. Marine and helicopter units were called for a medical emergency about 1 mile north of Lloyd Harbor.
Rescuers found a male on a boat who was in and out of consciousness, apparently due to severe intoxication, police said. The male was secured and taken to the Oyster Bay boat ramp where he was taken to a local hospital by a Nassau County ambulance for evaluation and treatment.
