Possible Norovirus Outbreak Under Investigation At LIU Post

The sicknesses may not be classified as a norovirus outbreak since it was not widespread enough, officials say.

Nassau County Department of Health Officials are investigating what caused a number of students to become sick at LIU Post in Brookville over the weekend.

A health spokesperson told Patch the sicknesses may not be classified as a norovirus outbreak since it was not widespread enough. "We're really not seeing any large numbers of students ill," the spokesperson said. About five students reported their sickness to the department of health as of Friday.

"It's not uncommon to see viral illnesses at this time of the year," the spokesperson said.
