Special Weather Statement Issued For Long Island

Use caution if you are on the roads this morning.

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for Long Island:

Visibilities across the area are between one half and one mile. Locally dense fog reducing visibilities to one quarter mile may also occur. These conditions are expected to continue through the morning commute. Motorists are advised to use caution while driving as rapid changes in visibility are possible. Reduce
speed and use low beam headlights.

Unseasonably warm weather persists Friday as a cold front approaches from the west. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected with temperatures warming into the upper 60s and lower 70s. An isolated shower cannot be ruled out as the front moves across the region Friday afternoon and the early evening, the NWS says.

High pressure builds to the north tonight into Saturday bringing a return to a more seasonable airmass. Temperatures tonight will fall into the 30s and 40s with highs on Saturday in the middle and upper 50s with plenty of sunshine.
