Town Dedicates Chair Of Honor For POW-MIA Recognition Day
Town officials and local veterans remembered service members from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War and the War on Terror.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and members of the Town Board were joined by local veterans in observing National POW-MIA Recognition Day to keep the promise of remembrance for the safe return of American Prisoners of War (POW) and those still Missing in Action (MIA). The Town Board dedicated an unoccupied chair, which honors those that are still Prisoners of War or Missing in Action. Together with local veterans, they remembered the unaccounted service members from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War and the War on Terror.

Supervisor Saladino stated, “Even though their fates are still unknown, they are no less our hometown heroes and we commend them for their service to this great nation. This Chair of Honor symbolizes there will always be a place in the Town of Oyster Bay awaiting the return of American Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action.”
