All Metro-North Lines Face Delays Friday
"Slip-slide" conditions can occur when fallen leaves get ground up by trains into a gelatinous mess.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Metro-North Railroad commuters experience delays Friday of up to 10 minutes due to slip-slide conditions.
The Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines are all listed as "on or close" to schedule because of wet leaves.
The railroad said, if delays increase, commuters will be updated accordingly.

Leaves and rain are not a combination that Metro North loves. "Slip-slide" conditions can occur when fallen leaves get ground up by trains into a gelatinous mess.
This gelatinous "slime" can cause the wheels to slip or slide along the rails when a train tries to slow down or speed up.

In severe cases, a train will automatically make an emergency stop, because the on-board computer system perceives the condition as excessive speed.
