Camp Nabby Celebrates Tom Adams On His 40 Year Work Anniversary
Tom Adams is recognized for his 40 years of dedication at Camp Nabby

Camp Nabby, an eight-week summer camp with a mission to educate and inspire young people through healthy play-filled summers, located at 1 Nabby Hill, Mohegan Lake, New York 10547, celebrated and recognized the 40-year work anniversary of camp counselor Tom Adams with a celebration filled with love.
“We are so grateful and appreciative of Tom for his years of dedication working at Camp Nabby each and every summer,” said Rita Bertino, Camp Director. “His work throughout the years has helped make Camp Nabby one of the premiered and loved camps in Westchester County for over 79 years, and why so many campers and staff return year after year.”
Tom Adams joined Camp Nabby as a counselor back in 1978, when a postage stamp was .13, a dozen of eggs were .48 and a gallon of gas was .63. Tom has been with the Princeton Group of first grade boys for all 40 years and has instilled his love of numbers and statistics with the boys. Each year during camp, Tom and the campers kept track of hole-in-ones, runs scored, home runs hit, and timed sprint races, just to name a few. Now that the fall is here, and the school year has begun, Tom is back at school, he teaches 6th grade math at Sleepy Hollow Middle School and enjoys the variety of children he teaches from the school year as well as the summer. In his spare time, Tom is a sports junkie and follows high school and collegiate baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, and softball. Tom has truly been an example for young teachers and counselors alike, and in all his 29 years of teaching and 40 years at Nabby, he has never missed a day of work.

While much has changed over the past 79 years of summer camp, like Camp Nabby’s new state of the art swimming pool for example, many things have stayed the same as evidenced by the large number of returning staff and campers each year. Camp Nabby is heading into its 80th year in business in 2019, which is unheard of in today’s camp environment; but the simple task of play and love for campers remains the same at Camp Nabby.
