Chances For Thunderstorms In The Lower Hudson Valley

The Hudson Valley's northeast corner was put on the state's watch list a week ago as abnormally dry.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — We might get a couple of breaks in the hot, dry weather searing the Hudson Valley, the National Weather Service predicts.

A cold front will slowly move through the forecast area today, bringing a chance for showers and thunderstorms, mainly across the Lower Hudson Valley and inland southern Connecticut. These showers will be associated with locally heavy rainfall. The front will move through western portions of the area today and eastern portions of the area tonight, pushing offshore after midnight.
A weak area of low pressure will form along the frontal boundary to our south and head north and east, bringing another chance for showers and thunderstorms Thursday night.

Still, the chances of rain aren't high, only rising to 40 percent in Putnam County and with no rain at all predicted for eastern Ulster.

The NWS says conditions remain warm and dry for the end of the week.
