2 Crashes Snarl Traffic In Peekskill

One, a multi-vehicle accident, stopped traffic on Route 9.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Traffic became snarled on Route 9 in Peekskill after one collision shut the highway down. It was a chain-reaction crash that injured seven.

The first was a motorcycle accident on Route 9 at the Louisa Street Bridge. While traffic was being diverted, another collision set off a chain reaction on Route 9 at the Main Street bridge at about 10:20 a.m. This was an 8-car pile up with one vehicle rolled over and on fire.

The Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps said the motorcyclist plus six people from the chain-reaction crash were taken to hospitals.
