Croton-Harmon Superintendent Edward Fuhrman To Retire In 2018

Fuhrman will step down at the end of the 2017-18 school year.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY - The Croton-Harmon school district announced that Schools Superintendent Edward Fuhrman will retire at the end of the 2017-18 school year.

“It is time,” Fuhrman said in a press release. “Family is very important to me and children are very important to me. My wife is retired now, and I really enjoy spending time with my grandchildren. It has been a privilege to work in this district with the children. Croton children are great.”

Fuhrman's retirement will cap a 42-year career in education, the school district noted.

Fuhrman has served as Croton-Harmon's superintendent since 2009, according to the district. With his retirement, Fuhrman will have held the post for nine years.

“We are so grateful for Ed’s leadership these past eight years,” Croton Harmon school board President Iris Bugliosi said in the press release. “He has developed a systemic, K-12 approach to decision making, so we no longer have isolated initiatives that are not connected. Everything we do is consistent with our vision and mission.”
