UPDATE — Metro-North has offered a more detailed explanation for the Tuesday morning snafu on the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven Lines.
The 15-30 minute delays you experienced during this morning’s rush hour were caused by a non-revenue train that became disabled in the Park Avenue Tunnel at approximately 7:30 AM.This took one of four tracks out of service, creating train congestion going into and coming out of Grand Central Terminal. Mechanics arrived on the scene and the train was cleared from the track at approximately 8:30 AM.We regret any inconvenience you may have experienced as a result of this incident.
(A non-revenue train is a train without passengers aboard, for example a work train.)
Metro-North reports delays of up to 3o minutes on all in- and outbound trains from Grand Central. The delays are on the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven Lines.

The problem is a disabled train in the Park Avenue tunnel.
@MetroNorth are you trying to compete with the regular subways on who can have the most delays? Always something new with you guys. Get with the program already, this is ridiculous.
