(Peekskill Arts)

From Peekskill Arts: The Peekskill Arts Alliance 22nd Open Studios event is only a few weeks away! The City of Peekskill is the place to enjoy all things art related as artists open their studios, contribute their work to group exhibitions, and participate in pop-up shows throughout the friendly city. This is a rain or shine event for people of all ages.

New this year is a gallery show at the Arts Lofts on Main Street. There will be an exhibition of some of its many artists who recently moved into Peekskill. Also, this year, the popular Truck Stop Gallery is only on Saturday June 1st on Central Avenue, so be sure to drop by on Saturday to catch the mini gallery shows. The Peekskill Presbyterian Church opens their Connection Room as a gallery for Open Studios this year with a show of six up-and-coming artists. A Fish Fry with music will happen there on Saturday. HVMOCA, Peekskill’s own contemporary art museum, will be offering free admission for the entire weekend and will host an opening reception and artist gathering on Saturday night open to all visitors. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.

Throughout downtown Peekskill, visitors can stroll the streets and visit artist studios around town. For artists who do not have downtown studios, we will again present “Off the Beaten Track” at Westchester Community College, located at 27 N. Division Street. The Artisans Boutique is back by popular demand at Antonia’s Studio 4 at 925 South Street, and an exhibition of work by four PAA artists will take place at the Hudson Valley Chamber of Commerce on N. Division Street. Visit the Peekskill Library’s Field Gallery and the clay artists at the Peekskill Clay Studios in the Hat Factory further out of town, at 1000 N. Division Street. For a scenic view, be sure to visit the Sculpture Trail at the Peekskill Riverfront Park. Come for lunch and stay for dinner at our many fine restaurants. Refresh with a snack and a cup of your favorite hot or cold beverages at one of our many coffeehouses while enjoying the art they exhibit as part of Open Studios.
At this event, art lovers, collectors, and members of the public are welcomed into the private working spaces of the diverse members of the Peekskill arts community. See works-in-progress and talk to individual artists about their creative inspirations and methods. Artwork will be available for sale.
