Driver Dies After Jumping Off Bear Mountain Bridge
A park police officer noticed a car parked on the bridge Wednesday morning.
BEAR MOUNTAIN, NY — New York State police report a person died after jumping off the Bear Mountain Bridge Wednesday.
At 7:40 a.m. a Bear Mountain State Park Police officer saw an empty vehicle parked on the bridge facing west with the hazard flashers on. Looking over the bridge, he observed a body floating in the water. The officer notified his dispatch and state police responded to the scene.
The body was recovered by the Stony Point Fire Department. Police said they learned that the body recovered from the water was the operator of the vehicle that was parked on the bridge.

The bridge was not closed during the investigation, police said.
