HUDSON VALLEY, NY —If you waited till Election Day to vote, you'll want your winter coat to head to your polling place, because high winds are bringing a wintry chill to the Hudson Valley.
"Highs on Tuesday may be close to 40°, but it will never feel that warm," said the folks at Hudson Valley Weather.
There are wind advisories out for Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester counties for Monday. They are posted until 7 p.m. in the mid-Hudson and until 6 p.m. in the southern part of the region.

The combination of high winds and blowing snow upstate may create hazardous travel conditions, including slippery surfaces, reduced visibility and power outages due to downed limbs and wires.
"These cold winds will rush over the Great Lakes, and generate lake effect snow showers and flurries across parts of the region on Monday morning. Especially in the Catskills, where an accumulating coating to an inch or two can’t be ruled on on Monday," said Hudson Valley Weather. "In the valley… it’s more likely that we just see some flurries or a brief snow squall with little to no accumulation."
Then it's going to get warm again for a little bit, so you can finish getting the weather stripping done.
