Joan Furio, a resident of Ossining, NY, passed away at the age of 86 due to complications from the COVID-19 virus.
Joan Furio (née Turturiello), a resident of Ossining, NY, passed away at the age of 86 on the morning of Wednesday, January 6, 2021, due to complications resulting from the COVID-19 virus.
Joan was born in the Bronx in 1934 to John and Mary Turturiello, and graduated from Evander Childs High School (Bronx, NY). During her professional career, she worked as a secretary for an advertising agency in Manhattan, and then at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, NY, for seventeen years. Joan enjoyed taking Writing and Literature classes while working at Sarah Lawrence.
On January 28, 1956, Joan married the love of her life, Joseph P. Furio. While living in Yonkers, the couple had three daughters, Denise, Joanne, and Deirdre. Joan loved being with family, including many dear cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She loved visiting with them at family gatherings large and small.

Joan was predeceased by her sister and brother, Theresa Turturiello and Gerald Turturiello.
Joan is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 65 years, Joseph Furio (Ossining, NY); three daughters and their spouses, Denise & Jim Pugh (Ossining, NY), Joanne Furio & Vince Caro (Berkeley, CA), and Deirdre & Tony Urbanowski (Ossining, NY); and six grandchildren, Brian Pugh & his wife Emiljana Ulaj (Croton-on-Hudson, NY), Michael Pugh (Troy, NY), Daria Pugh (Baltimore, MD), Tristan & Dylan Caro (Berkley, CA), and Thomas Urbanowski (Boston, MA). Joan is also deeply missed by her special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sarah & Lou Gardella (Carmel, NY).

Out of an abundance of caution, the funeral service will be held for immediate family only. The family hopes to host a memorial in the summer of 2021.
