Obituary: Robert James Merando, Sr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert James Merando, Sr. announces his passing. Robert passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2020 he was 66 years of age.

Robert worked as a letter carrier for the Village of Buchanan before he retired. After his retirement he would go on to work part time for Cooke's Little Shop of Flowers doing floral deliveries. He was a proud member of the Peekskill Fire Patrol, Cortlandt Hook and Ladder Fire Co, Verplanck Fire Department and Buchanan Fire Department. He was an active member of the Peekskill Road Knights, Knights of Columbus and the Cortlandt Seniors.

He is survived by his adoring wife Mary Jean, children; Robert, Jr. (Monica), Mary (Jason) Dini Sr., Michelle (Josh) Watkins, Nicholas, and Jonathan, five siblings; John E Jr, (Shirley) their children Jay and Gayle, Maria Heller (John) and son Matthew, Thomas (Patricia), Catherine Merando and Alan (Diane), ten grandchildren; Kylie, Ayslynn, Anthony Merando and Shyla Lafuente. Brooke, Timothy and Jason "Jace" Dini, Jr. Jasmine Ludlow, Rowan and Maebh Watkins, and many nieces and nephews. He is pre deceased by his parents John, Sr., and Mary Merando.

He was loved by everyone who knew him and he will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation will be held at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Monday, January 27, 2020 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm, and Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 11:15am. Interment to Follow at Assumption Cemetery.
