Three Wounded, One Fatally, In Peekskill Fight
Police identified the 18-year-old city resident who died after being stabbed at China Pier.
PEEKSKILL, NY — Three men were stabbed, one of them fatally, during a fight in the parking lot at China Pier in Peekskill on Saturday.
Police were called to New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital at 9:30 p.m. They interviewed potential witnesses at the hospital and learned that a short time earlier a group of people had gathered on Louisa Street and fought. Two men who were stabbed were driven by friends to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Due to the severity of their injuries, both were transported to Westchester Medical Center, where one of them, 18-year-old Peekskill resident, Joaquin Salazar, died. The other male, also 18 years old and from Peekskill, remains hospitalized.

During this investigation police learned that a third man, who had also sustained injuries during the altercation, had also been taken to Hudson Valley Hospital. He was later taken into police custody for his role in the altercation, although charges were still pending, Peekskill Police Chief Don Halmy said in a news release Sunday afternoon.
