Panas High School Student Is A National Merit Scholar Finalist
Class valedictorian Vaishali Miriyagalla has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Walter Panas High School valedictorian Vaishali Miriyagalla has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Vaishali received her Certificate of Merit at school last month.

She is among the more than 15,000 of the 16,000 semifinalists to have met all requirements to advance to the finalist round.
Finalists are competing for some 7,600 National Merit scholarships worth more than $30 million.

“Vaishali is a model student and contributor to the Walter Panas community,” said Principal Joe Spero. “She constantly has a smile and makes us all proud. This is a terrific achievement and we wish her well in the finalist round.”
Vaishali hopes to study math or physics in college next year and possibly work in the field of engineering. She is also a member of the Panas girls soccer team, Lakeland/Panas spring track team and of the Panas Players and Jazz Band.
