FDY is a yoga studio dedicated to sharing our love of yoga, building community and creating a sacred space that is good for all. We our located in the heart of downtown Peekskill's artist district. Peekskill is a strong and diverse city. As a new business owner, I was welcomed to Peekskill with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The mayor of Peekskill did an interview spotlighting Family Dog Yoga as a local business. From the Chamber of Commerce to local police, city officials and neighboring business, I could not have asked for a more friendly, welcoming city.

How has the new coronavirus impacted your business and its employees?
We are no longer teaching group yoga classes. FDY is offering Free Daily Yoga through Facebook live. None of us are being paid.
How can local customers support you now and in the future?
Family Dog Yoga is the only local studio offering free daily yoga. The idea is to keep the practice accessible for those who are struggling financially. Our hope is the community comes back bigger and stronger. Please share, like and follow us on social media.
Do you have any words of encouragement for your community?
Last Sunday via Facebook Live, 100-plus students were practicing along with me. I felt the energy of all of them as ONE; it brought me to tears of joy. Our yoga practice is a tool to connect to our breathe as a line into the higher self. When we create space within ourselves, we create space for those around us. The opportunity to let go with every exhale and begin again with every inhale. Breathe, practice, repeat. In the world of Karma and Dharma, we are literally putting our money where our mouth is.
Are you offering any special services, promotions or hours during this time?
Free daily yoga classes including Strong Kids Yoga and Hip Hop Yoga through the studio's Facebook page.
Are there any other outstanding businesses in town you think deserve some community support?
Yes! Peekskill Brewery and the Quirk Shop both owned and operated by women.
