Peekskill City Manager Hospitalized After Accident
The mayor has called a special meeting to appoint an acting city manager.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Peekskill City Manager Andrew Stewart was in a motor vehicle accident Wednesday and remains hospitalized.
Stewart is in intensive care at Westchester Medical Center, Deputy Mayor Vivian McKenzie told the Examiner News.
Mayor Andre Rainey described the accident as "horrific."

In a Facebook post, the city said Rainey has called a special meeting of the Common Council to appoint an acting city manager.
The meeting will be held virtually on Zoom. Information on how to join the Zoom meeting will be made available prior to the meeting, city officials said.

Stewart was appointed city manager in Peekskill in January 2020. He replaced Richard Leins who retired.
Stewart served three terms as Orangetown's town supervisor from 2012 to 2017. After that, he was a senior vice president for research and analysis at the nonprofit Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress.
