Peekskill Laundry Company Perseveres Through The Coronavirus

"White Plains Linen is open for business, taking orders and making deliveries all throughout the NY tri-state area," the company said.

PEEKSKILL, NY—A laundry company that has been in business for more than 80 years continues to persevere—even through a global pandemic. An earlier story reported by Patch said that the company had plans to close. However, the company said that is not accurate.

"White Plains Linen is open for business, taking orders and making deliveries all throughout the NY tri-state area. Each week we are seeing more restaurants opening for business and are encouraged that brighter days are ahead," the company said in a statement to Patch.

Family-owned and operated since 1938, White Plains Linen, which is located at 4 John Walsh Blvd. in Peekskill, remains committed to serving its community, a company representative said. While the New York Department of Labor reported that on June 30 the company permanently laid off 234 previously furloughed employees, a company representative told Patch that the company remains dedicated to its staff and serving its customers, even during challenging times.

A company representative stated that there are approximately 125 dedicated employees working right now and the remaining are furloughed.

"Our hope is that in the not so distant future and once NYC is cleared for indoor dining we’ll be able to bring back those remaining employees," the company said.
