Peekskill Schools To Hold Budget Hearing Tuesday

Voters will be going to the polls May 18 to approve a $101,368,973 spending package for 2021-22.

PEEKSKILL, NY — The public hearing on the proposed 2021-22 budget for the Peekskill City Schools will be held virtually at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The proposed budget is $101,368,973, with a 2.85 percent increase over the 2020-21 spending package.

School officials said the tax levy will increase 0.97 percent.

Homeowners are estimated to see an average monthly increase of $2.80. The average annual increase is estimated to be $35.76, according to school officials.

The annual budget vote will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 18. Polls will be at Peekskill High School, 1072 Elm St.

Two three-year board of education seats are up for a vote. Incumbents Pamela Hallman-Johnson and Allen Jenkins Jr. are on the ballot.
