Police ID Man Found Dead In Peekskill Stream

Police have identified the man whose body was found in Sprout Brook after a search as Shevon Thompson, 23, The Journal News reported.

Police believe the Peekskill resident had been in a one-car crash Dec. 15 in Cortlandt. Police initially searched the woods near the utility pole that had been struck.

Starting Dec. 30, forest rangers with the state Department of Environmental Conservation were called in to search along with New York State Police and the Peekskill Police Department, along Sprout Brook Road south of where the accident occurred, the DEC said.

A gray hooded sweatshirt that fit the description of what the man was wearing was found about 100 yards south of the accident site, just above the water line of Sprout Brook.

Searchers found the body in the stream Jan. 4.

The Incident is still under investigation.
