PEEKSKILL, NY – A Peekskill school-age person has tested positive for COVID-19, officials announced last week.

In an announcement to parents Friday, Schools Superintendent David Mauricio said the school district was notified that a person between the ages of 5 and 17 in the Peekskill City Schools residential area had tested positive.

School officials confirmed the person has not been in any school district buildings, so all buildings will remain open as regularly scheduled.

"I remind our families once again this week to please ensure that your emergency contacts are updated in our systems," Mauricio said. "Furthermore, while I hope we can avoid unexpected closings, we must all remember to remain flexible and prepared to return to remote learning if a situation requires a temporary or emergency closing."
