Smoke Condition At Peekskill School Forces Evacuation
School officials said the smoke was coming from a bathroom in the Hillcrest Elementary School building.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A smoke condition at Hillcrest Elementary Schools in Peekskill has forced the evacuation of the building Thursday morning.
According to a message on the district's website, the smoke was coming from a bathroom in the building.
School officials said all children and staff were safe and outside of the building.

The Peekskill Fire Department has responded to the scene.
The message also said that Hillcrest virtual learners should continue with any unfinished work. There will be no virtual instruction for the remainder of the day.

The building was for re-entry and all students have returned inside the school. Dismissal was scheduled to take place at the regular time.
