Storm Could Bring Heavy Rain, Snow: Hudson Valley Weekend

A storm is coming our way this weekend, and forecasters warn it could bring drenching rain, gusty winds and snow to parts of the Hudson Valley — but how strong it will be and whether and where it'll bring snow is still up in the air.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous outlook for Dutchess and Ulster counties, saying that wintry precipitation is possible, especially in the higher terrain areas east of the Hudson Valley.

Forecasters are sure the storm will bring rain to the Interstate 95 corridor from Washington, D.C., to Boston.

"The weekend storm is expected to strengthen and tap into moisture and just enough cold air to bring drenching rain to many areas but also the potential for a heavy snowfall in some locations as well," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist. "There is the potential for the storm to evolve into a major nor'easter or even a bomb cyclone from Friday night to Saturday night."

For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, the National Weather Service predicts the storm will bring rain from Friday night to Saturday night, with a chance of snow showers at the end.
